Did you know that the plastic from your PMD bag can be transformed into something beautiful? At Govaplast, we convert waste streams into high-quality, durable products—think of decking, benches, or stable walls. The secret? Our trusted suppliers and a meticulous process that starts with sorted, washed, and granulated plastic. However, working with recycled materials comes with its challenges. Why is that? And why does it result in such a unique outcome? Let us explain.
From waste to raw material
We strive for the highest quality. That’s why we create our raw material blends in-house. These blends ensure the homogeneous quality needed for stable end products. But waste remains waste, meaning the composition of the plastic we receive is never exactly the same. As Hans, our raw materials purchaser, aptly puts it:
“Did you know that the composition of our PMD waste even varies from season to season? For example, we eat different foods in summer than in winter, which results in different waste.”
Colour nuances: a unique feature
The variation in waste streams affects the colour of our final products. A darker waste stream results in darker-toned planks. This is especially noticeable in lighter shades such as mineral grey, atlas beige, and sand beige. But instead of seeing this as a disadvantage, we embrace it. It gives our boards a more natural and authentic look.
A harmonious end result
To make the most of these nuances, we recommend mixing the boards before installation. This works similarly to materials like wood and bricks.
Sustainability with a story
At Govaplast, sustainability goes hand in hand with aesthetics. Our products are made from recycled plastic, but they also carry a story—the story of waste finding a second life.
