A surprising idea that puts a smile on our faces! And for this reason, we are putting the wildlife crossing Koekendaal near Doetinchem (NL) in the spotlight.
Why a wildlife crossing?
The motorway A18 disconnects the nature reserve De Wrange near Doetinchem. Animals in the area, such as deer and badgers, are unable to cross the road safely. That is why the government (Rijkswaterstraat) decided to build a 20 m wide wildlife crossing during the course of 2019. This crossing is part of the Multi-Year Programme for Defragmentation (MJPO), in which nature reserves are reconnected.
Recycled plastic?
The fencing of the crossing has been chosen because of its sustainable and secure barrier.
